Luxury Designer Brand/LOGO

On Monday's Introduction to Fashion & Beauty PR class, we discussed about LOGO and luxuary brand products.

Have you ever bought a product from luxury or designer brand?

Why do we buy?

Is it because of the quality or exclusiveness?
Is it really worth the price?

A luxury brand product has
  • a high social visibility.
  • It may generate admiration
  • envy
  • satisfy yourself
  • badge of success
  • indicate status
  • image
  • value
  • dream
  • mystique
  • fatacy
  • lifestyle

Q&A with Honest Answers for myself

1. Have you ever bought a product wth logo/produced by famous brand or designer?
    Yes, too much temptation! :p

2. Why want to buy it?
 a. Family/friend/colleague has it
 b. Glomous feel
 c. Publicity of product

I would say family and friends does have some extent of influences, but it is really the glomous feel on myself

3. Difference on
 a. Peer group
 b. Me

I think it would make difference on me, makes me feel more confident.
To some extent, I think it does lift up the social status level.

4. Prepare to save up for it?
Maybe one day when I have a proper job... At the moment, I can barely survive :p

Midnight in Paris

Directed and Written by Woody Allen
Starring by Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams and Kathy Bates
A romantic comedy about a family traveling to the French capital for business. The party includes a young engaged couple forced to confront the illusion that a life different from their own is better.  - IMDb

This film showed many scenery of Paris~
From the morning to night time.
"Paris is the most beautiful in the rain"

The story is about a writer who admires the Paris in 20's. When the clock strike at 12am, a taxi comes and take Gil back to the 20's, where he met all the famous people, the writers, the painters etc.

Paris is a beautiful, romantic and charming city~ I went there when I was 5, I was too young to remember anything. The last time I was there was when I was 18, but I only went shopping with my mum, such a shame to miss out the chance walking around the city. It's so close to London, I can't believe I haven't been there since! I must go again someday!

Beauty 美麗

On Monday's Introduction to Fashion & Beauty PR Skills class, my tutor Beverly Alt read us some little storys about "Beauty", and we had some interesting discussions.

What is beauty? Who sets the standard of beauty? 什麼是美麗? 美麗的定義是什麼?

We don't really know, but every era has it's own standard of beauty.

I remember my grandma once told me about my great grandma used to wrap up her feet to stop it growing bigger, it was a standard at her time that small feet woman equals beautiful. Imaging how painful it was for her... probably couldn't walk properly neither...
記得小時候, 外婆都跟我說她的媽媽小時候都裹小腳。 在那個時代腳小的女人最美~ 但是想想, 這有多痛? 可能都不能好好走路吧...

In Tang Dynasty, people admires woman that are plump or chubby. The well known consort Yang GuiFei was well know as the beauty of that era.
唐朝, 美麗的定義是豐滿, 楊貴妃就是那個朝代的美人

Since when thin and skinny became the standard of beauty?
Well, I don't know... But in all those magazines, with the airbrush, all the models looks skinnier and the skin looks flawless.
什麼時候開始, 瘦變成美麗的定義?
我不清楚... 但是在雜誌裡的模特兒的照片都是有修改過的, 可能瘦一點, 皮膚看起來很光滑, 晶瑩剔透~

How important is beauty for a woman or man? 美麗對女人/男人來說有多重要?

Some people say that beauty is an asset, which is true. However, it can only carry you so far .
有人說美麗是一種優勢, 但只是到某種程度

Have you ever looked into a pram, and shocked?
The baby wasn't adorable, angel-looking, but instead, look like a little monster?

WE - unconciously - are LOOKISM

Don't we all judge people by the first impression if you don't know that person?
Would you approach to a beauty/handsome/better looking person than a normal looking person?
Some people say good looking people look more unapproachable.

According to some reseach, beautiful faces are symmetrical and in proportion, and they have the baby features - big eyes, tiny mouth. Automatically gives people a feeling that you want to protect her. However, some people also say that not totally symmetrical and a little imperfection is more memorable. All those image of perfection in the magazine don't really exist.

Also, according to some statistics, good-looking people gets higher chance to be hired. However, it's only to a certain extend, as quality and skills are more important.

In the modern world, youth and sex sells. It creates attraction.
Attractive people has a certain advantage, and the good looking ones makes people automatically thinks they have other desirable things about them.

Well, I think beauty is important, it gives ourselves confidence. That's the reason we buy skincare products and cosmetics. It's psychological, especailly when we see the adverts, we just wanna be like the model in the magazine. So we started buying all those skin care products and make up to make ourselves looks nicer.

Skin care and make up used to be a privilege for woman, but in this modern society, man are becoming more aware with their looks, and started using skin care products. In some countries even make up is becoming normal to use for man, which is usually used only for stage performing, and filming.

As the technology become more advanced, people starting to do plastic surgery, and it's becoming more common, just like shopping in some countries. I personally can't accept plastic surgery, unless it is really necessary.

Ghost The Musical - Believe in Love

"This breathtaking musical staging of one of the most popular films of all time promises to be a gripping roller-coaster ride of romance, drama and excitement. Featuring some of the most extraordinary illusions to be seen live on stage, and of course the iconic love scene featuring “Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers, GHOST is promises to be an unforgettable night at the theatre. "
"GHOST is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Walking back to their apartment one night, Sam and Molly are mugged, leaving Sam murdered on a dark street. Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next and unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger. Molly is heartbroken and devastated by the thought of never seeing him again. But love is a powerful force and Sam is a lot closer than she thinks. With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown - who doesn’t even believe her own powers, Sam faces a supernatural race against time, tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her, and prove to her that love really does last forever. Maybe he really will get the chance to tell her how much she means to him…"

Lighting and Sound are by Hugh Vanstone and Bobby Aitken. Jon Driscoll is the Projection Designer and Ashley Wallen is Choreographer."

Ghost The Musical, I would say this this the best musical I've watched so far.

With the already famous film back in 1990, although I don't remember watching the film, but I've probably watched bits of it on the TV when I was young.

The Famous Romantic Scene from The Film

We were lucky we got really good seats! Sat at the quite front of stalls and right in the middle!

One of the romantice scene
The musical has a really really good technical visual effects and theatre set up.
It's a modern version of the film.

One of the UNBELIVABLE Scene was that when Sam tried to passing through the door as a ghost, I couldn't belive he became SEE THROUGH!!! Don't know how they've done it! It's amazing!!!

The Psychic Oda Mae Brown

There are some scenes that were really funny~
I really loved the "psychic" character! She's just so, so, funny!

2nd Last Scene of Ghost The Musical
Last Scene of Ghost The Musical
The last scenes were the best! It really made me cry!
I could just feel my tears stream down on both sides of my cheeks non-stop...
So touching, so romantic, but sad...
Even when everyone stand up to applause, my tears didn't stop.

The main actor Sam and actress Molly they looked really sweet, even after the show, they still have arms around each other's waist.

The musical was so good, that I ended up buying the Original Cast Recording CD and the T-shirt.

First Visit to Westfield Stratford London

Styling by Grace Liu
White Top: H&M Ladieswear
Mustard High-wasited Knitwear Shorts: H&M Trend

According to Grace the white top lightens up the whole outfit, makes me look younger. Whereas I originally have chosen a black top, which made the whole outfit looked really heavy, and too mature.

The opening of Westfield Stratford City would favour those who likes to go to Westfield but lives in the East, like myself. Literally, 15 minutes away.

Westfield Stratford City is just right next to the Stratford station, about 5 minutes walk, well, it was a long bridge.

Entrance of Westfield Stratford City
The first few shops were all very big, or should I say HUGE? Such as Forever 21

Lepard Print Hat: Forever 21
Check Coat: H&M Ladieswear

Primark is also HUGE in there, the Window Display is so good, you can't even tell it's Primark.

The Sting has a really cool interior design with the lighting, lift and the escalator, shame I wasn't allowed to take a photo inside.

Not all the shops are opened yet.

Had dinner in Giraffe
Dishes from the normal menu are quite high
So we ordered from the set menu

Starters: Beans Soup, Salad, Chicken Skews

Main: Pumpkin Curry with Rice

Main: Salmon Fillet with Wasabi Rice & Salad
We loved the cute giraffes~
The food was okay.
My friends said they wouldn't visit again though, can have better food with this price.

It's a nice view looking over the long bridge at night.

Black Leather Boots: LK Bennet
